“ | I'm afraid people don't think I care because I'm so chill but ... I'm so chill I kind of don't care. | „ |
- Frida Kahlo |
Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón, more commonly known as Frida Kahlo is a student at Clone High High School and the 16-year-old genetic clone of the Mexican painter of the same name. She's the current class president of Clone High, and the most popular classmate at school. She eventually enters a romantic relationship with Cleopatra.
She is voiced by Vicci Martinez.
Biography[]
Frida first met her best friend, Harriet Tubman, in 2014 when she was 7 years old, the two bonding over their love of tandem bikes by riding their tandem bikes from tandem. On September 14th, 2014, they apparently ran over and killed a guy named Frederico on their tandem bikes and buried him alive. However, it's revealed in Sleepover that Frederico survived the hit and run accident and used this near-death experience as a wakeup call to spend the next 9 years changing his life for the better. During this time, Frida and Harriet would honor the yearly anniversary of what they assumed to be Frederico's death by performing Wiccan rituals involving Frederico's favorite snacks at the time of the accident: Sprite and Doritos.
Appearance[]
In the original, Frida is tall and hairy, wearing a flower on head, a red stomach top, khakis and loafers.
Frida wears green pants with lighter green cuffs, white sneakers with green accents on the left foot, magenta accents on the right foot, and black soles on both, yellow and orange socks with a vertical checkerboard pattern, and a magenta shirt with a second shirt underneath that has black shoulder straps and yellow and green striped sleeves. The tips on the sleeves of Frida's magenta shirt have a design meant to look like they were dipped in blue paint and on the chest of the shirt is a small design of a skull with a unibrow. In reference to her extroverted nature and passion for art, all the many colors in her character design are highly saturated.
Frida wears many accessories including a gold cross hanging from a necklace of gold beads, a red hairband, black earlobe piercings, a pink flower in her left hair bun and an orange flower in her right hair bun and alternating red and yellow ear piercings going up the length of her outer ears.
Frida takes after her clone mother and does not remove any of her body hair resulting in a unibrow and light mustache. She keeps her hair combed back in the shape of two angular buns. Unlike her clone mother, Frida is flat chested, a feature Cleopatra takes note of upon Frida's character introduction.
Her unibrow is also sometimes sentient, being able to jump out from Frida's forehead to either crawl or fly away. However, it is only sentient when the moment calls for the brief instance of visual comedy.
Personality[]
Frida's main and most noticeable personality trait is her easy-going nature, usually going with the flow of a situation. Much like her clone mother, she has a progressive nature, hosting a club for inclusivity in Let's Try This Again, but can be seen as shortsighted in her beliefs as she made Abe feel isolated for his lack of knowledge of how language has progressed despite being only newly thawed out from the year 2003. She also sidelined Cleo, a person of color, in favor of allowing Joan to join the inclusivity club. In Anxious Times at Clone High Frida stated her biggest stressor as "people think I'm chill because I don't care, but I'm scared I don't care because I'm so chill". However, when Frida starts having feelings for Cleo, her usual laid-back chill nature isn't present, instead being replaced by a more nervous and awkward nature. Though, she seems to not like admitting being nervous, as she still believes she's super chill like always.
Frida is the class president and most popular girl of her school. Frida appears to be on good terms with all the other members of her school but is looked down upon by Cleopatra who comes from a time where girls like Frida weren't popular. Frida's best friend is Harriet Tubman and Frida along with Harriet have formed a friendship trio with Joan of Arc, helping Joan with her inexperience having female friends. Aside from Harriet and Joan, Frida can commonly be seen comfortably hanging around other characters such as Abe Lincoln, due to her easygoing nature. Despite Abe giving Frida and Harriet a bad first impression for not knowing what's socially acceptable in 2023 in Let's Try This Again resulting in them declaring him being "canceled", Frida and Harriet would fully forgive Abe by the end of the episode and became friends with him. Frida has been shown to have several hobbies. Like her clonemother, she is an artist with one notable piece being a beautiful full mural art of the real world Ghandi which she can be seen finishing painting in Anxious Times at Clone High. She also practices Wicca as seen in Sleepover. She appears to have a love for non-motorized vehicles as she's a big fan of tandem bikes and is frequently seen riding her green skateboard.
