- Harriet Tubman |
Harriet Tubman is a student at Clone High High School and the genetic clone of the African-American abolitionist, Araminta Ross, better known as Harriet Tubman. An early prototype of her initially served as a minor character from the first generation in Season 1. However, starting with Season 2, her character was retconned into a second generation clone, who served as a new main cast member. Her original version first appeared in "Makeover Makeover Makeover: the Makeover Episode", before her revamped version more properly debuted in "Let's Try This Again". Her original version was voiced by Debra Wilson and her current version is voiced by Ayo Edebiri.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
She made her first official appearance in the background, during "Makeover Makeover Makeover: the Makeover Episode", gushing with the other girls, as she watched Gandhi, after being given a makeover by JFK.
Season 2[]
In the reboot, she is retconned as a member of the second generation of clones, born in 2007, now with a completely altered design. She was re-introduced in "Let's Try This Again", along with her best friend Frida Kahlo, who she considered her "sister from another petri dish". The two of them welcomed the first generation of clones back to Clone High High School and helped them keep up to date with the events of 2023, with an Inclusivity Comitte. Ironically, their inclusivity comitte was very exclusive, as they only allowed in certain people and would banish anybody from their group that they deemed problematic, such as Abe, who Harriet and Frida had to cancel, when he released a bunch of offensive FlipFlop videos of him trying and failing to apologize for his problematic language.
In "Sleepover", Harriet and Frida practiced a wiccan ritual together, which Joan spotted them doing and wanted to join. Although Harriet and Frida initially refused to let Joan into their group, Joan griped about how she had no female friends, pressuring them into inviting her to their sleepover. At the sleepover, the three of them ended up having tons of fun together and Joan soon became part of their friend group. Later, Harriet suggested they play Never Have I Ever and as a joke, Joan proposed if anyone here had killed a person. Shockingly, Harriet and Frida both put their fingers down. They told Joan the story of how back when they first became friends, as little kids in 2014, they accidentally ran over and killed a man on their tandem bikes and buried his body. This was a secret that they swore to take to the grave and Joan was the first person they ever told. Joan didn't believe their story so Harriet and Frida took her down to where they buried the body, only to see that the body was missing. This was because the person they supposedly killed, "Frederico", actually survived the hit and run incident and used the near-death experience as a wake up call to change his life for the better. He returned to the scene of the crime and thanked Harriet and Frida for "killing" him, as it pushed him to make himself a better person. Joan also told Harriet and Frida her secret; that she was still in love with Abe, even though she was currently dating JFK. Harriet and Frida promised to keep her secret, as the rules of sleepovers stipulate that everything they discuss there is strictly confidential.
In "Anxious Times at Clone High", Harriet was extremely stressed out about the upcoming pre-midterms and worried that if she failed the test, she would grow up to be a basic "wine mom", who says things like "Mama needs her chardonnay" and would name her kids "Drayden" and "Clayden". This pressured her to over-exert herself, studying. She had a nightmare about herself being one of these wine moms and being drowned in tacky pillows with silly phrases embroidered onto them. She woke up in her car and found out she had just fallen asleep studying. When she tried to drive home, the car battery was dead. She was then suddenly attacked by The Heebie Jeebie, who chased her down the streets and down to Clone High High School, where it was antagonizing the other stressed-out clones too. Harriet later realized that The Heebie Jeebie could be defeated by admitting to one's worst fears, so she overcame her stress, by admitting that she was afraid of becoming a "basic bitch" in a suburban neighborhood as an adult. Harriet celebrated overcoming her fears at the Broad Daylight Swimsuit Party, where she publicly announced on FlipFlop that she would be making it in Hollywood, since she knows Ian Ziering and his phone number, (310-626-1317).
In "Some Talking but Mostly Songs" she decides to put on a musical adaptation of the board game "Twister" after learning that Tropical Hospital will be sending a scout searching for young talent to Exclamation! U.S.A. She casts Joan, JFK, and Kublai Khan as the main leads; Left Hand on Blue, Right Hand on Red, and Left Foot on Green respectively. When Joan begins suggesting changes to the play, Harriet goes along with them despite not liking them due to her wanting to be supportive. However, she eventually snaps at Joan after she completely changes the okay. Joan realizes she was wrong and throws the play Harriet wanted on the roof of The Grassy Knoll. Joan even lets her play the main lead, Left Hand on Blue. When she has to kiss JFK in the scene where Left Hand on Blue confesses her love for Right Hand on Red, Joan tells her she's ok with it. However, after kissing JFK, she becomes infatuated with him.
In "Saved by the Knoll" she intentionally avoids JFK as she knows she has feelings for him but doesn't want to hurt Joan by getting with her boyfriend. However, she eventually gives into her urges and makes out with JFK on a desk. After making out with him, she realizes she doesn't actually love JFK and the two agree to not continue the affair. Later in the episode, the two decide to tell Joan about the kiss and after quickly going through the five stages of grief, she forgives them.
In "Spring Broken" she hopes to meet up with @definitelyahotguy69, who she was talking to online. Throughout the episode several characters insist that she's being cat fished but she denies it every time it's brought up. Just before she's able to finally snap out of the denial and accept that she's being cat fished, @definitelyahotguy69 messages her back, reinforcing her belief that she isn't being cat fished.
In "Sexy-Ed" she attends the funeral for Joan and JFK's relationship. She attempts to comfort Shell Silverstein but accidentally makes him cry by saying his parents didn't love him enough to stay together. Later in the episode, Confucius reveals that he was @definitelyahotguy69 and he asks Harriet to be his girlfriend. She accepts and they decide to throw a sex-filled party at Confucius' house to celebrate their relationship.
In "Clone Alone" she teams up with Joan, Frida, and Cleo when they enter the death maze. She also breaks up with Confucius for not caring about college and not being enough of a "go-getter." She attempts to hide her sadness for breaking up with Confucius as she traverses the maze. However, she eventually decides to cherish her relationship with Confucius, even if he doesn't care about college as much as she does. At the end of the episode, when it's revealed that Joan sabotaged all of her fellow clones, Harriet can be seen angrily glaring at her.
Appearance[]
In the original series, Harriet Tubman has dreadlocks. She wears a beige bandana, green top and slate jeans. In the reboot, she has an afro puff dyed pink and wears a yellow and green polo shirt, light blue shorts, yellow thigh high socks and black ballet flats.
Personality[]
Not much is known about first-generation Harriet, but she seemed like a rather grumpy and sassy person, who acts like a stereotypical black woman. Generally, she doesn't have anything to say unless it's about black culture.
Second-Generation Harriet can be described as a progressive, energetic, and hard-working girl. She tries her best to include everyone, but is not shy to canceling. Her worst fear is becoming a wine mom, and tries to keep her grades as high as possible. Her best friend is Frida Kahlo, who bonded over their mutual love of tandem bicycles. Oh, and I forgot to mention- they both killed a man. Harriet is a wannabe theater girl, with a passion to star on the big silver screen. She plans on someday making it big in Hollywood, as an on-screen actress and/or as a producer of her own media. She sort of treats every day of her life as though she were the star of her own movie. Sometimes when she talks, she'll do an "internal monologue" bit, where a big spotlight is cast down upon her and she talks out loud, similar to how on-stage actors would do monologues in Broadway plays.

- She is a fan of the show Tropical Hospital.
- In "Some Talking but Mostly Songs" she says she wants to "escape the shadow of her trailblazing clone mother." This implies that her desire to be famous is rooted in insecurity and the belief that she doesn't live up to the real Harriet Tubman's legacy.
